Nia is a well-being fitness and lifestyle practice. Through expressive movement - the Body's Way - Nia empowers people to achieve physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health and well-being. Nia changes people's lives.

Nia blends a range of rhythmic music styles with carefully choreographed hour-long routines. It is the first and foremost 'fusion fitness' program of its kind, inspired by three art forms: The Dance Arts - Jazz, Modern, Duncan; The Healing Arts - Yoga, the work of Moshe Feldenkrais, The Alexander Technique; and The Martial Arts - Aikido, Tae Kwon Do, Tai Chi. WORKSHOPS AND SPECIAL CLASSES:

Sense Your Spine- A Special Feldenkrais® Class!
Registration REQUIRED (online) Deepen your Nia Experience with an Introduction to The Feldenkrais Method, Awareness Through Movement® The Feldenkrais Method is one of the 9 movement forms in Nia. This Awareness Through Movement® class will deepen your understanding of what your teacher means when she says "Sense your .......," which will make it easier to use Nia as a way to heal yourself, and to improve the quality of each movement. The specific lesson will develop your kinesthetic sense of your spine more fully, and you'll learn to distribute effort evenly along its entire length, providing new freedom and ease in your twists and turns. The instructor, Irene Pasternack, is a guild-authorized Awareness Through Movement instructor, and a Nia white belt. Jill's Saturday morning class follows at 10:00 a.m. as usual. Continue your pleasure of your spine as Jill debuts the Sexi, a new Nia routine with a focus on the spine. Costs: Free for all NiaDivas members (Devoted, Delighted, Darling) and NiaDivas regular drop-ins. $15 general public.

Thanksgiving Morning Nia 9:30 AM: Special benefit class for 'New Beginnings' to end domestic violence
Put your turkey in the oven, grab your friends and family members and let's dance together to end domestic violence. This class is by donation only for 'New Beginnings' a Seattle based agency whose mission is to provide shelter, advocacy and support for battered women and their children; and to change attitudes and social institutions that foster and perpetuate violence.
